Cheera parippu curry/ Spinach dal curry



Here in this recipe I have used a different variety of Spinach called Sambar cheera. Sambar cheera  grows abundantly in  the back yards of almost every households in kerala. They are rich in vitamins and tastes great too.

Ingredients:
Tuwar Dal : 1 cup (cooked with salt )
Spinach leaves  : 1 bunch
Coconut : 1 cup
 Raw Mango chopped : 3or 4 pieces.
Pearl onion :2
Green chilly  :2
Turmeric powder :1tsp
Chilly powder : 1tsp
Salt to taste
For seasoning :
Oil :1tbsp
Mustard seeds: 1 tsp 
Dry red chilly : 2
Curry leaves : few
 Method:
Chop spinach. Grind coconut along with onions to a smooth paste.
Transfer the cooked dal into a saucepan and mix with a cup of water and bring to boil.
Add turmeric powder,salt ,chilly powder , green chillies and the mango pieces. 
Add the  spinach and cook till the leaves are soft.
 Now add ground coconut and mix well. Boil for two minutes and turn off the stove.
Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and  red chilly .
Add curry leaves and pour it over the spinach gravy.
Serve with Rice & Pappadam .


Remember: Try to include ½ a cup of dark green leafy vegetables in your day for a tasty way to get lots of vitamins and minerals.
