Dosa (Ghee roast)


The dosa, which is a snack food-stuff, is low in fat and high in carbohydrates and proteins, is a typical South Indian breakfast food-item.

  • 2 cups Ponni rice



  • 1 cup skinless split urad daal (skinless black gram)



  • 3/4 tsp fenugreek seeds



  • Salt to taste






  • Soak daal along with fenugreek in a vessel and rice in another vessel for minimum of 8hrs , and then grind them separately and mix into a paste.


  • Now put it in a Big vessel and keep in a place which is little hot so it can ferment well. for best result leave it overnight or 7 to 10 hrs





  • After fermentation process you can add water if it needed.

  • The consistency of the batter should be thick enough to thickly coat on a spoon when dipped.
    Then heat your iron griddle. once it get heated make it to medium flame. smear some oil and Pour a spoonful of batter in the centre, spread with the back of the spoon to a thin round.add ghee .Turn to otherside for some time .
    Remove with spatula when crisp. Serve hot with chutney and sambar.
