Ingredients:
Kadala / Black Chickpeas (cooked)- 1 cup
Raw Plantain/pacha kaya( diced )– 1cup
Yam/Chena (diced)– 1 cup
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Chilly powder-1/2 tsp
Pepper powder ¼ tsp
Salt to taste.
Jaggery / sharkara-1/2 cup ( grated)
Coconut -11/2cup
Jeera – 1/2tsp
Green chilly -2
Seasoning:
Mustard -1tsp
Dry red chilly-2
Curry leaves –few
Coconut-1 tbs
coconut oil- 1tbsp
Method:
1.Heat a vessel with enough water and add chena and kaya . cook them adding salt and turmeric powder.
2.Grind coconut green chillies and jeera well.
3. Heat a pan and add grated jaggery and 1 cup water. Stir well till it melt completely. .sieve and keep aside.
4.when the vegetables are cooked well, add kadala, Pepper powder and chilly powder.
5. Mix well and add melted jaggery and boil for a minute.
6. Add ground coconut and boil for another 2 minutes and remove from fire.
7. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.when they pop up add dried red chillies and curry leaves and finally add 2tsp coconut which has been kept for frying.when it turn to a brown colour pour them to the curry .A good side dish for kerala sadya!
