Ingredients
- 1/2 kg: Chicken
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 1/2 cup: Onion
- 1 cup: tomato
- 20 cloves: Garlic
- 1 big piece: Ginger
- 2 tsp: Pepper
- poppy seed -1/4 tsp
- 2 tsp: Cumin seeds
- 2 tsp: fenugreek
- ¼ cup:coriander Powder
- ½ small cup: Chilli Powder
- 2Cloves
- tarmarind as required
- Salt to taste
- curry leaves - few
- bay leaf - 2
- 5 tsp: Oil
- Method
- Wash the chicken and cut to pieces.
- Mince garlic and ginger.
- fry pepper, cumin seeds and fenugreek curry leaves and bay leaf and powder them together.
- soak poppy seed in water for 10mints and then grind with half portion of garlic and ginger and marinate with chicken and keep aside for 1hr..
- Season cloves in oil in a frying pan, add onion and tomato.
- Sauté well adding minced garlic and ginger
- Add chicken with little turmeric powder and cook for 10 minutes.
- Add chilli /coriander powders, salt and mix well.
- Pour 4 cups of water and little tarmarind juice.
- When chicken is half boiled, add coconut milk,the fried pepper, cumin seed and fenugreek powder and mix well.
- When the gravy thickens to a paste, remove from fire.
- Serve hot with rotis or white rice.
